Why I feel it is important to donate to charity:
I feel that is important to personally focus on the preservation of health within my family and through my efforts within my community. I feel that it is important to support health promotion and disease prevention professionally within my region, state and country through a wide variety of professional activities. I feel that is important, and I feel very fortunate to be in a position, to support the efforts of others who are committed to promoting health and wellness and minimizing human suffering regionally, nationally and globally as well as to directly support those in need through the use of whatever resources I have available (my time, my presence, my prayers, my skills and my financial support).

Most fulfilling aspect of donating to the ACPM:
The promotion of health and the prevention of disease and injury are absolutely key to improving the overall health of populations. The preventive medicine community is composed of professionals who not only understand the importance of prevention but are committed, specifically trained, and well equipped to translate their passion for prevention into their practice. ACPM supports professionals as a resource for accurate and timely information, networking opportunities, continuing education, and career development as well as serving as an advocate for the profession. I have gained much from my membership in the college and it is a great pleasure to be able to contribute to and support the continuing work of ACPM.

How I hope my donations have helped others:
I think that it is critically important to continue to recruit, train and support professionals who have a passion for prevention and public health. I hope that my donations serve to support the college’s efforts to engage those entering the field of medicine by expansion of medical school chapters and the continued availability of grants to allow medical students to attend annual meetings.

What I’ve learned through my involvement with the ACPM:
I have learned that the preventive medicine community is a highly educated, highly motivated, passionate group of people who are committed to making a difference in the health of individuals and populations and that ACPM is committed to supporting, growing and sustaining this work.  I have learned that the preventive medicine community is a highly educated, highly motivated, passionate group of people who are committed to making a difference in the health of individuals and populations and that ACPM is committed to supporting, growing and sustaining this work.

Something about me not everyone knows:
I had the opportunity to travel across much of the United States and Canada last year with my husband and three young kids (in a Winnebago!). In addition to the obvious joys of time with my family and the beauty of our continent, the trip offered a unique opportunity to see the impact of state/provincial and national priorities on the health and wellness of geographically and culturally diverse populations.
