Continuing Medical Education

ACPM provides a dynamic forum for the exchange of knowledge among preventive medicine specialists, and offers high-quality educational activities for continuing medical education (CME) and maintenance of certification (MOC) information and resources for ongoing professional development. Physicians rely on accredited continuing medical education as one of the support systems that helps them continuously improve their practice and their care of patients. Participation in accredited CME helps physicians meet requirements for maintenance of licensure, maintenance of specialty board certification, credentialing among other professional privileges.

CME Mission Statement

The American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) provides continuing medical education (CME) to physicians and other public health professionals working in clinical preventive medicine and population health. CME increases knowledge and improves skills using interactive didactic sessions, skill-based workshops, small group sessions, and individually paced learning modules. Pre- and post- activity evaluations are analyzed as part of continuous program improvement. The mission of ACPM CME is to increase the performance and competence of the learners and thereby improve patient and population health.

CME Program

ACPM has been accredited to provide CME credits by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) since 1975. CME credit may only be claimed by, and awarded to, physicians, defined by the AMA as individuals who have completed all allopathic (MD), osteopathic (DO) or an equivalent medical degree from another country. ACPM's CME program includes:

  • Live in-person courses
  • Recorded courses and activities
  • Internet enduring activities
  • Journal-based activities
